A Wave Of Pink

The past few weeks in New York have been a full-on heat wave—heavy, hot, sticky, smelly. Just as the city was melting, this fun little installation popped up on a corner lot: pink everywhere, in the form of flamingos, and common items you come across in the city.

The artist’s idea was to remind New Yorkers that even the ugliest, most barren parts of the city can be transformed—and “glamorized.”

It was quirky, unexpected, and very New York. And just as quickly as it appeared, it was gone again. That’s how it goes in this city—one blink and you miss things. Glad I didn’t in this case as it was another reminder that NYC is anything but dull!
