Emergency

Last Saturday night brought an experience I’d happily have skipped… a late-night ER trip for a broken toe. Surprisingly, it was a very calm, positive experience—every nurse and doctor I met was kind and professional, and I was in and out in just three hours. The scene, though, was a bit different from what you might expect in Europe. First, you pass through metal detectors at the entrance, then you’re met with a wide range of patients—many drunk, some even handcuffed and guarded by police officers. The doctors handled everything with patience, calmly repeating questions over and over. Their kindness and professionalism were inspiring—a reminder of what truly matters in life.
