German neighbourhood

I learned that part of the upper east side called Yorkville used to be inhabited by mostly German-born immigrants around the late 1800s and early 1900s. It’s very rich in history and hard to summarise in a couple of sentences. When I walked around the area and stumbled across a couple of German shops and restaurants, I was curious and read up on it.

The below restaurant Heidelberg for example is known to be one of the oldest family-run restaurants in the US dating back over a hundred years ago. The menu features many German (to be more precise: Southern German) delicacies and who knows, maybe I’ll try it one day…
